Scope note
- Magistrates in ancient Athens, who managed certain aspects of the Panathenaia. The athlothetai were ten in number, chosen by lot, and stayed in office for four years. They arranged the procession, and the musical, gymnastic and equestrian games. With the Boule, they provided the peplos and prize amphorae. Moreover, they gave the oil to the athletes.
