Scope note
- One of the four classes in which Athenian citizens were divided from the 6th century BC according to the income their property could generate. The class of pentakosiomedimnoi consisted of citizens whose land yielded at least 500 medimnoi of corn or the equivalent in other produce. Initially, archons were chosen among citizens from this class. Later members of other classes could also hold senior offices.
