Scope note
- In ancient Greece the term identifies usually silver coins with variant weight, depending on the specific weight standard to which they belong. Their main multiples are the didrachm, the tridrachm, the tetradrachm, the pentadrachm, the exadrachm, the octadrachm, the decadrachm and the dodecadrachm. Their main subdivisions are the hemidrachm or triobol, the diobol, the obol and the hemiobol. Although the drachm was usually silver, some gold or even copper ones also exist.
