Scope note
- Inscriptions engraved on vases or sherds, usually after their firing, but also before. They are short texts, consisting of a man's name, more usually the name of the owner of the vase, or even a short sentence. Their subject matter varies and derives mainly from the activities of everyday life in ancient Greece.
