- Silver Athenian tetradrachms and drachms of the 2nd and 1st c. BCE. Stephanephora derived their name from their reverse which depicts an owl surrounded by a laurel wreath. The exact date of their introduction is still a matter of controversy among researchers. In modern bibliography they are called New Style coins.
