Scope note
- A term used in ancient Greece for children born to a foreign mother. The mitroxenoi had full political rights as citizens with indigenous parents. In ancient Athens, this was ceased by the enforcement of a law voted in 451/0 BC, a measure attributed to Pericles, by which Athenian citizens were considered only those who had both Athenian parents.
