Scope note
- Gold coins that were originally struck at 1/216 of the Roman libra and valued at a third of a solidus. They were introduced around 383 CE and continued to be issued by the Romans until the 5th c. CE. Their minting continued during the Byzantine Empire until the 9th c. CE.
