Scope note
- Organisations of like-minded theoreticians and activists that are formed with the aim to prepare, organise and conduct revolutionary movements. As a rule, revolutionary organisations act in illegal circumstances and are often treated by the establishment as terrorist groups or even secret societies with dubious goals. They often constitute radical fractions within political organisations and they may evolve into political parties after the outbreak (and potential success) of the revolutionary movements.
