Scope note
- Type of voluntary offer from the citizens in ancient Athens. The majority of epidoseis were related to military operations and to a minor extent to other purposes such as sacrifices, purchases of grain etc. The city demanded an extraordinary voluntary contribution of money from the citizens, determining the highest and the lowest amount. The contributors were rewarded by the state with different honors.
