Scope note
- Costume design is the art of designing and creating costumes for the characters acting onstage (theatre) or appearing on the screen (cinema etc.). Its semiotics constitutes a metalinguistic framing of the stage action and can designate a character, a specific period of time, a people, a social class, etc.
